3DAP (Digital Data Delivery for Australian Publications) is an industry group committee formed to ensure that advertising material prepared by different sources for use in publication printing can be faithfully reproduced together on the same press sheet. It is also important for the same material inserted in multiple publications to be consistent.
To make sure your PDF file conforms to the 3DAP standards:
1. Open up your source file in InDesign (If you're not using InDesign, we recommend to do so).
2. From the export window, make sure to select Convert to Destination
3. Under colour conversion select PDF/X-1a:2001 as the standard
4. Under output select the correct 3DAP ICC profile.
Once you export your PDF it should conform to the ICC profile you have selected.
To make sure your PDF file conforms to the 3DAP standards from Adobe Acrobat Professional, open your file in question and open the Convert Colours window
Advanced > Print Production > Convert Colours
Under output intent, select the corresponding 3DAP Proile. Beneath, tick preserve black and preserve CMYK primaries Then OK. After completing this, just save your file, and you’re done!
